The week before Christmas can be a hard time to fit any reading in. With so many activities to participate in and family to meet up with, it’s hard get much of anything normal in. And that’s why I have two short stories to share with you.
These two are super quick, yet sweet reads. And even better, I timed myself while I read both of them. Combined, the stories only took me approximately 45 minutes to read. Not long at all, but the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Despite the Odds by Kaytlin Phillips
The war is over… but making it home for Christmas is a challenge in itself.
Lane Mueller just wants to make it home in time for Christmas, but that’s a lot to ask in 1945 because that’s exactly what everyone else wants as well. Operation Santa Claus has gotten him to American soil, but he’s still over two thousand miles from his fiancée and home. Can he make it back despite the odds? Or will he be spending Christmas at some stop along the way?
A heartwarming story based on a little-known WWII operation to get soldiers home for Christmas. Despite the Odds has a lot of heart and a light dose of humor.
My True Love Gave to Me by Karen Witemeyer
Anna King has pledged her heart to Simeon Shepherd, but her father refuses to grant her hand to the young farmer. Simeon determines to be patient and earn David King’s respect over time with hard work and evidence of his ability to provide. However, when a wealthy new suitor arrives in Bethlehem, Texas to woo Anna with her father’s support, patience is no longer an option. Simeon has twelve days before Christmas to best his rival and prove once and for all that he is Anna’s true love.
My True Love Gave to Me is a laugh-out-loud Christmas story set in Texas. Super fun and highly recommended.
Remember, they’ll only take 45 minutes to read. Take a little time to relax and enjoy them this holiday season.
