This week I just finished the book Love by the Letter, a prequel novella to the Unexpected Bride’s series. It was such a fun read, and it certainly got me interested in the rest of the series!
Dex Stanton has always had his eye on Rachel Oliver, but he has one problem–she’s too smart. He’s never had much time for book learning and can only read with a lot of struggle. But since he’s going west to homestead in Kansas, he’ll need a wife at his side, so he does the only reasonable thing–he writes to a mail-order bride company.
But even a mail-order bride might not be able to overlook his atrocious spelling–and so that means that he’s compelled to ask Rachel for some help.
Rachel has always had her eye on Dex, but she has one problem–he’s always avoiding her. But when he comes to her for help with his reading and spelling, it could be just the opportunity she’s been looking for. Or is it? When she realizes his motives for wanting to improve his spelling skills, how can she bear to continue helping him?
Love by the Letter has humor, a lesson in trusting God in all areas of life, and best of all, the eBook is free and available in whichever store you prefer.
P.S. I think my favorite part was right in the first chapter when Dex opened his letter from his mail-order bride. I laughed–and I still do whenever I think of it. You’ll have to read it to find out what I’m talking about.
